December 7, 2014
The Melges 32 World Championships were held December 3 – 7 in Miami, Florida. Volpe was there with Ryan DeVos at the helm and Dalton DeVos driving Delta for five days of intense racing against a very strong fleet of racers from around the world. Seventeen boats were on the start line representing nine countries. Weather was good with breeze in the mid-teens for the first three days, going to 9 – 12 and shifty for Saturday and 6 – 9 for Sunday.
The leader board changed frequently with Delta and Volpe staying within striking distance. Argo and Torpyone had a numerical lock on the top two positions going into the final day with third open to a number of competitors. Sunday’s light air kept the racing close with Argo holding off Torpyone for first and Mamma Aiuto! edging out Volpe for third with Delta close behind in sixth.
Great work Ryan and Dalton!
