Reciprocal Privileges & Visiting Yachtsmen

Welcome to Macatawa Bay Yacht Club

Whether you're cruising the Great Lakes, competing on the racecourse, or exploring the beautiful shores of Michigan, Macatawa Bay Yacht Club extends a warm welcome to visiting boaters and guests. We take pride in offering genuine hospitality, exceptional facilities, and the camaraderie that makes the yachting community so special.

Whether you're joining us for an evening, a weekend, or an extended stay, we look forward to making your visit memorable.

Before You Visit

To ensure a smooth arrival, please:

  • Contact the Club in advance to confirm dockage, dining availability, and reciprocal privileges.

  • Present a current-year membership card from your home club.

  • Arrange for a Letter of Introduction from your yacht club verifying that you are a member in good standing.

  • Review and adhere to the Clubhouse Attire & Member Etiquette guidelines.

Because reciprocal privileges and guest policies vary among clubs, we encourage all visitors to check availability and reservation requirements before arrival.

Letter of Introduction

A formal Letter of Introduction is required for all reciprocal visitors. The letter should be issued by your home club and confirm your membership status and good standing.

Please have your club send the letter to Macatawa Bay Yacht Club at least 48 hours prior to your visit.

Arrival & Check-In

Upon arrival, we ask all reciprocal guests to check in with the Club:

  • Boaters should hail the Dockmaster on VHF radio 9 before entering the harbor.

  • Visitors arriving by land should check in at the main office or with the host in the bar area.

  • Please sign the guest register upon arrival.

Reciprocal Privileges

Macatawa Bay Yacht Club proudly participates in reciprocal arrangements with yacht clubs approved by our Board of Directors, including clubs affiliated with the Yachting Club of America (YCA).

Reciprocal privileges are extended as a courtesy between clubs and are subject to availability, Club policies, and seasonal restrictions.

Seasonal Limitations

To ensure an enjoyable experience for members and guests alike, reciprocal privileges may be limited during periods of high demand, including:

  • Holiday weekends

  • Major regattas

  • Club-sponsored special events

  • Other peak attendance periods as determined by Club management

During these times, reciprocal visitation may be restricted or unavailable.

Guest & Reciprocal Visit Limits

In accordance with Club bylaws:

  • The summer season is defined as Memorial Day through Labor Day.

  • Reciprocal visitors are generally limited to three visits during the summer season.

  • Additional visits may be approved by the General Manager or a member of the Executive Committee.

  • Non-member guests visiting with a Club member are subject to the same seasonal visitation limits unless otherwise approved.

Racing Crews & Visiting Competitors

Macatawa Bay Yacht Club is proud of its racing tradition and welcomes competitors from near and far.

Crew members participating in Club-sponsored or Club-supported racing events are granted guest privileges during the event and these visits do not count toward seasonal visitation limits. Likewise, crew members of visiting yachts participating in Club activities or renting transient dockage are granted temporary guest status for the duration of their stay.

We are honored to share our harbor, traditions, and hospitality with fellow yachtsmen and women. We look forward to welcoming you to Macatawa Bay Yacht Club and wish you safe travels on your journey across the Great Lakes.
